popular pastime with the British and they called it the
'Great Game'. The Golden Mahasheer, a
sporting fish, is found in large numbers in the
rivers and lakes of Kumaon. Fishing is allowed
in Ghat (Saryu River), Pancheshwar (confluence
of kali and saryu), Jauljivi ( Confluence of
Gori & Kali), Chuka ( Confluence of Ladhiya abd
kali) and Boom (Sarda River) following a
permission from the officer in charge of the
area concerned.
Angling at Corbett
Ramnagar makes a fishing base camp.
Coming from high mountains this river passes through the heart of the Park
and debouches into the plains at Kalagarh.
At Lohachaur, 15-kms north along the River Kosi,
good anglers always have a chance of landing the
legendary Mahseer, a redoubtable battling River
Carp apart from Indian Trout and Goonch.

The rapids make the spoon, spinner and plugs
quite invaluable, but the big monsters in the pool can
be lured best by live bait.
A fishing permit is necessary and can be
had at Dhikala. The shallows and back
waters here are full of small fish. .
