Around one Km. uphill from Nainital bus-station at an altitude of 2100 meters is the sprawling expanse of Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo. It has Monkeys, Himalayan black bear, Leopards ,Siberian Tiger, Snow Leopard, Palm civet cat, Wolf, Silver Pheasants, Rose ringed Parakeet, Hill Fox, Ghoral, Barking Deer, Sambhar. A broad spectrum of Himalayan Oak, Rhododendron and so many other foliage regenerating here naturally have given it a verdant look which is always refreshing. The zoo remains closed for visitors on Monday, all national holidays, Holi & Diwali.
